Important Information

After deciding upon a concentration, it is important to declare and begin taking courses as soon as possible. Concentration course offerings are dependent upon the number of students in that concentration. Please be advised that Industrial Technology and Packaging (ITP), Business and Economics transfer students are required to declare a concentration as soon as possible and no later than by the end of your first year at Cal Poly. Economics majors do not need to choose a concentration, but they can if they choose. Economic students who choose not to declare a concentration must fulfill the requirements of General Economics.

The Graduation Writing Requirement (GWR) is a CSU-mandated program designed to ensure that students can write proficiently before they enter the professional work force. All Cal Poly students who are seeking a degree, including Master’s degrees and teaching credentials, must fulfill the GWR. This degree requirement must be fulfilled before a diploma can be awarded. Click HERE for more information.

All students are required to complete one USCP course. This requirement is fulfilled by courses in Major, Support, General Education (GE), or Free Elective category. As a transfer student you might have already completed this requirement, please refer to your Student Center’s Degree Progress Report.
