Student Leader Hiring

Are you a student interested in getting more involved and taking on a leadership position in the Orfalea College of Business?

Attend the OCOB Recruitment Fair on Thursday, January 11th from 11am-1pm. From 11am-12pm  in Bldg. 03, Rm. 111 there will be a brief presentation held every 15 minutes led by student leaders who will provide an overview of the available leadership positions. Additionally, each leadership group will have booth set up in the breezeway from 11am-1pm managed by current program members that can speak to their experiences with the program and answer any questions you may have.

Applications will open on Monday, January 8, 2018 and close on Friday, January 26, 2018. Students are welcome to visit MustangJOBS to view application requirements prior to the application open date. Students are encouraged to apply for all positions they are interested in. Note that if an applicant is selected for multiple positions the applicant will be allowed to accept only one position offer due to the level of time commitment and expectations associated with each position.

Student Services Positions Available


Ambassadors volunteer their time to promote the Orfalea College of Business to prospective students, supporters, alumni, and industry representatives. Student Ambassadors lead tours, attend Executive in Residence round tables, and assist with large-scale college events.

Career Peer Advisor

Career Peer Advisors connect students to resources, assist them on professional development, and guide them through the career planning process. Career Peer Advisors provide one-on-one career advising and mentorship to help fellow students successfully land competitive internships and job opportunities.

*This is a paid position.

MBP PALS (Peer Assisted Learning Supporter)

MBP PALS are assistants for Orfalea’s Multicultural Business Program. This is an excellent leadership opportunity for students to hone their teamwork, coaching, and communication skills.

*This is a volunteer position.

Peer Advisor

Peer Advisors are extensively trained on university curriculum and policies in order to best advise students. Their primary role is taking one-on-one appointments with students to support the college’s 4-year graduation initiatives. They offer specialized appointments for students to discuss scheduling, change of major, study abroad, receiving internship credit, and more.

Peer Mentor

Peer Mentors provide one-on-one peer support by providing guidance, motivation, and accountability to Orfalea Colllege of Business students for their social, personal, and academic aspirations at Cal Poly. Peer Mentors meet with their mentees on a weekly basis to guide them towards meeting their goals throughout the academic year. Guidance is customized by the needs and desires of the mentees.
