Meet Your Career Peer Advisors!

Mohan (he/him/his)

Hi! My name is Mohan Bhakta and I am a fourth-year studying Industrial Technology with a minor in Computer Science. I am excited to help students reach their professional potential and make a genuine impact on their careers! Aside from working in the Career Readiness Center, I am involved in Alpha Kappa Psi and was a former Sponsorship Coordinator for SLO Hacks. I was a Supply Chain Optimization Intern for a start-up named TruckerCloud this past summer and am an incoming Technology Consulting Intern at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Outside of my involvements, I am an avid soccer fan and have been playing competitively for sixteen years! Hiking, working out, and collecting cards are some of my other hobbies. I also enjoy listening to EDM and Hip hop/Rap. I hope to see you stop by at the office!

Joie (she/her/hers)

Hi everyone! My name’s Joie Wong and I’m a third-year Business Administration student with a double concentration in Accounting and Marketing Management. Outside the Career Readiness Center, I’m also involved with the OCOB Ambassadors, Mustang Consulting, Women in Business, United in Movement, and the Korean American Student Association. Outside of school, I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to intern with Demandbase as a Revenue Marketing Intern, but in my free time, I adore exploring coffee shops, cooking and baking, dancing, thrifting, getting brunch, and going to the drive-in movies with some friends. I’m super stoked to be serving OCOB students as a Career Peer Advisor and to help them gain lasting professional and personal skills—look forward to meeting you in the office!

Diego (he/him/his)

Hi, my name is Diego Manuel Chavez (pronouns he/him/his) and I am a fourth-year Business Administration student concentrating in Accounting & Information Systems, with a minor in Ethnic Studies. My favorite part is the people, I love getting to meet new and unique individuals and helping them to empower themselves, allowing them to realize their passions and goals. Aside from being a Career Peer, I am involved in MEXA, LBSA (Latinx Business Student Association), Multicultural Business Program, Cal Poly Adventure Club, and the KPMG Campus Ambassador Program. I am passionate about social justice through educational and professional empowerment, focusing on the intersections of race, gender, ethnicity, masculinity, and sexuality in deconstructing systems of oppression to help empower the historically under-served. It is a privilege to be here today, and thus I place great emphasis on pursuing equity through hands-on service to those in need–for radical and lasting systemic change begins through our actions. I am an avid restorative environmentalist and outdoors enthusiast, and I also enjoy hobbies such as backpacking, trail running, long-boarding, playing guitar, and brewing a good cup of coffee.

Elizabeth (she/her/hers)

Hi! My name is Elizabeth Gonzalez Padilla and I am a fourth-year concentrating in Accounting. This year, I’m excited to help students build their confidence when applying to jobs by helping them see how talented they are. As a first-generation student, I know how hard it is going into a job interview without knowing anything about the process; that is why I love helping students bring their best selves to the interview and shine. Outside of the Career Readiness Center, I serve as a Peer Leader for Transfer-mation, a Transfer Supportive Group that focuses on helping students get connected with other transfer students and feel a sense of belonging at Cal Poly – all while giving them resources to succeed. I’m also part of CPAC and WIB, which help to build a foundation for my career path. During the summer, I love to visit my grandparents in Mexico and enjoy the amazing food, my grandma cooks. In my free time, I love to practice yoga, go to the beach, to the mountains, or just sit next to my pond at home while reading a book.

I am ecstatic to be a Career Peer Advisor because I’ve experienced firsthand the services of the Career Peer team and I hope to further extend those services. This past summer, I was fortunate enough to have secured both a Business Law internship as well as a Finance internship. On campus, I am a member of Delta Sigma Pi, the Club Ambassador for the Financial Management Association (FMA), and an active member of Cal Poly Investment Banking (CPIB). Sophia (she/her/hers)

Hello! My name is Sophia Jidkov and I am a third-year Business Administration major concentrating in Accounting with minors in English and MAST (Media, Arts, Society, and Technology). My favorite aspect of being a Career Peer is the opportunity to work alongside individuals as they progress toward their professional and academic goals. Whether it be reviewing resumes, conducting mock interviews, or talking through career exploration opportunities, I truly value each interaction I have with students within the OCOB community. On campus, I’m involved with Cal Poly Accounting Club, Russian Student Association, and Women in Business. I also work as a Student Accounting Assistant for Cal Poly ASI during the school year. Next summer, I will be transitioning to a Tax Intern role with PwC. In my free time, I love watching movies, trying new recipes, and exploring the Central Coast with friends. Lauren (she/her/hers)

Hi! My name is Lauren Löef and I am a fourth-year Business Administration student concentrating in Marketing Management with a Music minor. My favorite aspect of being a Career Peer has been helping fellow students gain confidence and excitement as they enter into a new stage of their career search. Everyone is so capable and will thrive in new spaces, I am just excited I can help bring that out in an individual. Along with being a Career Peer Advisor, I am a Poly Rep University Ambassador where I give prospective students tours (walking backwards of course) of Cal Poly while connecting the past, present, and future alumni. I have also found community in Greek Life as an involved member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority, a Panhellenic member, and serve as a leader for the Christian Greek Row organization. I love music: listening, writing, singing, and playing the piano. You can always find me drinking coffee, hiking, reading, spending time with friends, or attempting to watercolor paint. I love OCOB just as much as I love Cal Poly as a whole, I can’t wait to meet you in the center this year!

Shannon (she/her/hers)

Hi! I’m Shannon and a fourth-year Business Administration student with a concentration in Marketing Management and a minor in Sales. I’m excited to be a Career Peer because utilizing their resources since freshman year helped me with professional and personal development, leading me to getting an internship after my first year — which I hope to share with peers! This past summer, I was a BDR Adobe Sales Academy intern (feel free to email calpolyslocss@gmail.com if you’re searching for a Summer 2022 Sales internship). On-campus, I’m involved with Cal Poly American Marketing Association (AMA) – President of Collegiate Sales Society (CSS) and cultural clubs such as the Thai Vietnamese Student Association (TVSA) and Pilipino Cultural Exchange (PCE).
