Meet Your Career Peer Advisors!

Bill (he/him/his)

My name is Bill Park and I am a fourth-year Business Administration student concentrating in Finance & Accounting. My favorite aspect of being a Career Peer would be the ability to help and give back to the students of the College of Business. As a first-gen college student, it’s exciting being able to help others as others helped me! On-campus, I’m involved in Alpha Kappa Psi, a Co-Ed Business Fraternity, and the Multicultural Business Program. I love exploring the outdoors, hanging out with friends, and just started learning photography.

Deborah (she/her/hers)

Hello! My name is Deborah Ong and I am a Business Administration student concentrating in Accounting & Finance. I love being able to walk alongside students as they figure out where they want their career to begin and help to build confidence to land a dream internship or job. I’m involved with CRU within the Workplace Ambassadors team. I am a big fan of the beach, board games, and spending time with loved ones. My past work experiences have included working as a financial analyst intern for Wells Fargo and this past summer I had the opportunity to work as a corporate finance intern for Amgen, a biotech company. I think that getting any kind of work experience is so crucial to understanding where you want to start your career and I’m so excited to be able to be a part of that journey with students within OCOB.

Diego (he/him/his)

Hi, my name is Diego Manuel Chavez (pronouns he/him/his) and I am a third-year Business Administration student concentrating in Accounting & Information Systems, with a minor in Ethnic Studies. My favorite part is the people, I love getting to meet new and unique individuals and helping them to empower themselves, allowing them to realize their passions and goals. Aside from being a Career Peer, I am involved in MEXA, LBSA (Latinx Business Student Association), Multicultural Business Program, Cal Poly Adventure Club, and the KPMG Campus Ambassador Program. I am passionate about social justice through educational and professional empowerment, focusing on the intersections of race, gender, ethnicity, masculinity, and sexuality in deconstructing systems of oppression to help empower the historically under-served. It is a privilege to be here today, and thus I place great emphasis on pursuing equity through hands-on service to those in need–for radical and lasting systemic change begins through our actions. I am an avid restorative environmentalist and outdoors enthusiast, and I also enjoy hobbies such as backpacking, trail running, long-boarding, playing guitar, and brewing a good cup of coffee.

Elizabeth (she/her/hers)

Hi! My name is Elizabeth Gonzalez Padilla and I am a fourth-year concentrating in Accounting. This year, I’m excited to help students build their confidence when applying to jobs by helping them see how talented they are. As a first-generation student, I know how hard it is going into a job interview without knowing anything about the process; that is why I love helping students bring their best selves to the interview and shine. Outside of the Career Readiness Center, I serve as a Peer Leader for Transfer-mation, a Transfer Supportive Group that focuses on helping students get connected with other transfer students and feel a sense of belonging at Cal Poly – all while giving them resources to succeed. I’m also part of CPAC and WIB, which help to build a foundation for my career path. During the summer, I love to visit my grandparents in Mexico and enjoy the amazing food, my grandma cooks. In my free time, I love to practice yoga, go to the beach, to the mountains, or just sit next to my pond at home while reading a book.

Karan (he/him/his)

Hi! My name is Karan Bhatia and I am a fourth-year concentrating in Quantitative Analysis with a minor in Statistics. My favorite aspect of being a Career Peer is the opportunity to leave a lasting meaningful impact on students and their careers! Aside from working in the Career Readiness Center, I was the Former Director of Professionalism and VP Finance for Alpha Kappa Psi and the Former Audience Growth Coordinator for Mustang Media Group. I was a Risk Advisory Intern for EY (Summer of 2019) and was a Business Intelligence Intern this past summer for Palo Alto Networks. Outside of these involvements, I love all types of games (board games, card games, video games). I’ve played golf since the 7th grade and one day, I want to manage my own golf course. I thoroughly enjoy a good sandwich – I am a huge High Street and Lincoln Deli enthusiast (don’t ask which one is better, its too hard to decide). I also enjoy EDM & Alternative Rock/Pop.

Kayla (she/her/hers)

Along with being a returning Career Peer Advisor, I am a Poly Rep (tour guide & official ambassador of the university), VP Recruitment for Mustang Consulting, and a member of one of the Co-Ed Professional Business Fraternities, Delta Sigma Pi. This past summer, I interned for Protiviti, a management consulting firm. Outside of my involvements, I love to hang with friends, listen to music, ski, and drink coffee. I absolutely love my role as a Career Peer Advisor because I get to meet so many incredible OCOB students. Hope to see you stop by the office!

Miriam (she/her/hers)

Hi! My name is Miriam Abdoh and I am a fourth-year Information Systems student with a Sales minor. My favorite part about my job is helping students gain both professional and personal development that will last them past their time here. Outside of being a Career Peer Advisor, I am involved with Delta Sigma Pi, OCOB Ambassadors, and interned for AWS this past summer as a Sales intern. I love meeting new people, going to the beach, eating breakfast burritos, and baking. I also interned abroad in Barcelona and saw the Women’s World Cup in France. I look forward to meeting you!

Lauren (she/her/hers)

Hi! My name is Lauren Löef and I am a third-year Business Administration student concentrating in Marketing Management with a Music minor. My favorite aspect of being a Career Peer has been helping fellow students gain confidence and excitement as they enter into a new stage of their career search. Everyone is so capable and will thrive in new spaces, I am just excited I can help bring that out in an individual. Along with being a Career Peer Advisor, I am a Poly Rep University Ambassador where I give prospective students tours (walking backwards of course) of Cal Poly while connecting the past, present, and future alumni. I have also found community in Greek Life as an involved member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority, a Panhellenic member, and serve as a leader for the Christian Greek Row organization. I love music: listening, writing, singing, and playing the piano. You can always find me drinking coffee, hiking, reading, spending time with friends, or attempting to watercolor paint. I love OCOB just as much as I love Cal Poly as a whole, I can’t wait to meet you in the center this year!

Reed (he/him/his)

My name is Reed Erickson and I am an Industrial Technology & Packaging major with a concentration in Packaging. My favorite aspect of being a Career Peer is enabling students to become the best version of themselves and instilling them with a newfound confidence that will lead them to the future/career they dream of. Aside from my involvement as a Career Peer, I serve as a Poly Rep University Ambassador, where I have mastered the execution of perfectly timed dad jokes, an instructional student assistant for ITP 233, and as an active member in ITS, Poly Pack, and Garden Club. Outside of school, I try to soak in all that Vitamin D, whether it is surfing, scuba-diving, hiking, backpacking, or sunset chasing with friends. Don’t be a stranger, come on by so we can chat!

Shannon (she/her/hers)

Hi! I’m Shannon and a third-year Business Administration student with a concentration in Marketing Management and the new Sales minor! I’m excited to be a Career Peer because utilizing their resources since freshman year helped me with professional and personal development, leading me to getting an internship last year — which I hope to share with peers! This past summer, I was a Solutions Engineer intern at NetApp and am fortunate to have it extended into this school year. On-campus, I’m involved with Cal Poly American Marketing Association (AMA) – President of Vendition Sales Society (VSS) and cultural clubs such as the Thai Vietnamese Student Association (TVSA) and Pilipino Cultural Exchange (PCE). Outside of campus, I enjoy playing sports, listening to music, and finding good/new food places! Hope to see you stop by the office!
