Meet Bryanna McLoy, MBP’s Assistant Coordinator and founder of the program’s first marketing team.
Hometown: Newark, California
Year and major: 2nd year Business Administration, concentrating in Marketing Management and minoring in Integrated Marketing Communications and Ethnic Studies
Hobbies: painting, drawing, calligraphy, dancing, making videos, taking pictures, basically anything artsy
Favorite memory in MBP: Seeing Black Panther with the PALS.
I had a great time watching such an iconic film with underlying diversity topics. Being able to discuss them with people who were just as passionate about diversity and inclusion was awesome.
How she got involved: Bryanna applied through the admission survey in April of her freshman year. In January 2018, she joined the leadership team as an Assistant Coordinator. In this position, she assists current students in the office and helps create marketing collateral for MBP events.
Contributions to MBP: Bryanna founded MBP’s first marketing team to explore her passion in the field and increase opportunities for other students who are also interested in marketing. She hopes it will provide them with real world experience that employers are looking for.
Word of advice to incoming freshmen: “Join MBP or other cultural clubs and surround yourself with like-minded people who will encourage and support you personally, academically and professionally. Also, feel free to stop by our office to relax, grab some snacks, or talk to our team. We are here to support you!”
Living the MBP motto:
MBP gave me a place where I matter. I did not feel like I fit into OCOB’s culture and because of this, I almost transferred out of Cal Poly. However, joining MBP at the beginning of this year allowed me to combine my passions for creative arts and social justice to create marketing campaigns that support our program. It gave me a purpose.
