Double Concentration in Accounting

Rationale: Employers of Orfalea graduates such as accounting firms and large corporations with finance/accounting departments have approached the Accounting Area and encouraged us to graduate more students with a concentration in Accounting. Accounting firms who have consistently hired a large number of Orfalea graduates have a strong interest in hiring additional students who pursue concentrations in Finance/Accounting and IS/Accounting. Companies such as Apple and Cisco have also indicated that Finance students would benefit from pursuing Accounting as a second concentration.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Ability to realistically graduate within 4 years with both concentrations
  • 3.0 Cal Poly SLO GPA
  • Primary concentration must be Accounting

To apply to double concentrate in Accounting, students must do the following:

  1. Submit a 4-Year Plan directly to Students must use the file linked in button below. Before submitting, please check all pre-requisites and tentative course offerings to ensure accuracy. You may be asked to re-submit if these conditions are not met.

Orfalea Student Services will review the feasibility of your submitted 4-Year Plan. You will then be emailed regarding your eligibility status.

If eligible, you will be required to schedule an appointment with a Peer Advisor to review your 4-Year Plan before declaring.

Contingency: We reserve the right to remove your second concentration if it will prevent you from graduating within four years. You will be notified before any changes are made to your concentration declarations.
