Business Council helps to develop a holistic understanding of student engagement across the Orfalea College of Business, encourages partnerships and collaboration between clubs and student leader organizations, and provides a student voice for ASI, OCOB Student Services, and the Dean’s Office.
Requirements
Applicants must be able to commit to this position for a full year and must be an Orfalea College of Business student. All majors & concentrations are welcome to apply. Applicants must be an incoming Sophomore, Junior or Senior. Must commit to dedicating approximately 1-3 hours/week on outreach, communications, planning, and attending monthly meetings.
Roles & Responsibilities
There are three board positions opening for the 2021-2022 year. Responsibilities of each position are as follows:
President
- Creates agenda and leads meetings in partnership with board members
- Organizes the quarterly schedule and assists with recruitment
- Previous leadership experience in a club preferred
VP of Operations
- Connects with outside organizations and departments to book speakers
- Works directly with Business Council Advisor on initiatives and event planning
- Maintains attendance and feedback of Business Council Representatives
VP of Finance
- Handles financial paperwork and manages budget for meetings and events
- Takes meeting notes and sends out regular communications with Business Council Representatives
- Collects weekly updates, sends meeting remembers and follow up emails
Expectations
- Passionate about the Business Council vision to connect clubs, student leaders, staff, and faculty within the Orfalea College of Business
- Active member of an Orfalea College of Business club, organization or on-campus service
- Collaborate as a board with Business Council Advisor on different ideas and initiatives
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Exhibit professionalism and strong leadership
- Assist with and attend events sponsored by Business Council
- Attend all Business Council Meetings
- Participate in bi-weekly board meeting
