On October 19, seventeen student ambassadors from the Orfalea College of Business traveled up to Seattle to network with business professionals and speak with prospective high school students. In doing so, they gained valuable advice from industry professionals while sharing their experiences at the Orfalea College of Business with future Mustangs.
During their journey, the ambassadors visited F5 Consulting, Point B Consulting and the Amazon headquarters. At each visit, they showcased hallmark Orfalea student professionalism and career-readiness while strengthening existing corporate relationships. Not only did the ambassadors gain knowledge and career guidance, but they also made valuable connections which will assist them in their future job searches.
Behind California, Washington has the highest number of students admitted to Cal Poly. In light of this, the ambassadors visited nine high schools to educate students on what Cal Poly and the Orfalea College of Business have to offer. They helped students better understand the application process and how they can immerse themselves in different clubs and organizations on their future college campuses.
The ambassadors ended their trip by touring the Pike Place Market and admiring famous art in downtown Seattle. But while the career preparation and travel experience were valuable, the most fulfilling part for many ambassadors was the chance to encourage younger students. As fourth-year ambassador, Chris Kwasny put it, “the trip allowed us to grow even closer as a group while providing the opportunity to give back to others what the Orfalea College of Business has given to us.”
