The Orfalea College of Business will host a free screening of the film 50/50 on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 3 p.m. in Building 03, Room 201. A discussion will also commence after the screening. The film, which chronicles the history of women and power, will coincide with the celebration of 50/50 Day, a global initiative to promote a more gender-balanced world. All Cal Poly faculty, staff and students are invited to attend.
According to the filmmakers, 50/50 gives the 10,000 year history of women and power. From setbacks and uprisings to the bigger context of where we are today, Emmy-nominated filmmaker and founder of The Webby Awards Tiffany Shlain explores the great arc of women’s history and what it is going to take to get to a 50/50 world. The film, which was released in 2016, has had over 4 million views to date. The film coincides with 50/50 Day, which promotes a global conversation about what it will take to get to a more gender-balanced world across all parts of society.
