Faculty from Cal Poly’s Orfalea College of Business will host its first Finance Research Day in conjunction with Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business on Friday, November 14, 2014. The event, held in building 03 room 206 at Cal Poly, is open to students and faculty across campus with interests in finance and economics.
The event will feature finance and economics faculty from Cal Poly and Santa Clara presenting and discussing new research centered upon empirical corporate finance. According to Finance Area Chair Cyrus Ramezani, he hopes the conference will help expand research collaboration between the two business programs by engaging faculty, graduate and undergraduate students.
The event will feature presentations and discussions surrounding four research papers, two authored by Cal Poly faculty and two authored by Santa Clara faculty. Brian Ayash, associate professor of Finance in the Orfalea College of Business, will present his paper “Piercing the Veil: The origin and use of cash flow in LBOs.” Cal Poly associate professor of finance, Pratish Patel, will also present his work, “Debt Maturity and Term Spread.”
