The Economics Area is known for the excellence of its research, teaching and advising.
Our faculty has a track record of publications in places such as the American Economic Review, Econometrica, Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of International Economics, Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, Journal of Human Resources, Games and Economic Behavior, Rand Journal of Economics, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Journal of Health Economics, Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Economic Development and Cultural Change, Journal of Mathematical Economics, World Development, Energy Policy and Ecological Economics among many others. Our research has been funded through the years by organizations such as the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, the US Department of Agriculture, UN Development, UN Environment, UN Women, the California Air Resources Board, the US Department of Defense, the Columbia Earth Institute, the Gates Foundation, the OECD and the World Bank.
We lever our expertise in research and advising through the offering of a highly technical curriculum that is grounded in practical, real-world experience. We offer a BS in Economics, a MS in Quantitative Economics, a Minor in Economics and a concentration in Quantitative Analysis.
