More Information

Entrepreneur Paul Orfalea founded Kinko’s in 1970 with a simple idea: provide affordable access to products and services otherwise unavailable to students and small businesses. From its modest beginnings, Kinko’s – now Fed Ex Office – became the world’s leading business services chain, with over 1,700 branches worldwide. Orfalea used an unorthodox approach to business to mold a compassionate, unconventional, partner-driven culture that empowered coworkers and allowed Kinko’s to thrive, making it, according to Fortune and Forbes, one of the best places to work in America.

In 2001, Paul Orfalea and the Orfalea Family Foundation provided an endowment to further the strategic plan of Cal Poly’s College of Business to become one of the nation’s premier undergraduate and graduate programs. The foundation also generously endowed Cal Poly’s Orfalea Family and ASI Children’s Center, which provides quality early care and education to local children.
