Tad Miller
Dr. Miller is the Ernst & Young Faculty Fellow in accounting. He teaches both auditing and financial accounting. In 2008, Tad became the first accounting faculty to receive Cal Poly’s Distinguished Teacher Award. In addition to having received numerous teaching awards in the Orfalea College of Business, Tad’s contributions have been recognized by Student Affairs and by Poly Reps.
Tad has written about auditing, auditors’ business risk and the savings and loan crisis. His articles have appeared in journals such as: Accounting, Auditing & Accountability, Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Accounting Education, Mortgage Banking, Real Estate Business, and Taxes.
Prior to coming to Cal Poly Tad was an auditor for Arthur Young & Co. in Phoenix, director of parts and service for a large recreational vehicle dealership in Tucson and director of parts and service for a large Chevrolet dealership in Peoria.
Tad received an MBA and a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona and a BA in Economics from the College of Wooster. He was one of two faculty responsible for creating the Accounting Area Advisory Board. On two occasions Tad has served as chair of the accounting area. He was an integral member of the team which elevated the stature of Cal Poly’s accounting program to where it is widely recognized as one of the best accounting programs in California.
