Marc Cortez
Marc Cortez is an entrepreneur and business executive who brings 30 years of experience to Cal Poly, the last 16 within the solar and energy industries. He has led global initiatives with some of the world’s largest global manufacturers, most recently as the Vice President/General Manager of Samsung’s $350M U.S. solar power plant division. In addition to Mr Cortez’s corporate experience, he has also founded six companies and raised over $23M for entrepreneurial ventures. In 2013 he co-founded Truthound, a biotech company that commercialized science developed at Cal Poly. Mr. Cortez is currently the founder and CEO of Liquid8, a water conservation start-up bringing renewable energy principles into the water conservation market.
Mr. Cortez has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) degree from Colorado State University, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Pepperdine University.
