Gary Katz

Gary Katz joined the Cal Poly marketing faculty in Spring 2019 following a long professional and teaching career in Silicon Valley.

In addition to his teaching role at Cal Poly, Gary is a board member of ClearAction Continuum, a company he co-founded in 2017 to launch a SaaS-based customer experience momentum platform.

Before joining Cal Poly, Gary was an adjunct faculty member at UCSC-Extension in Silicon Valley where he taught public relations and architected the world’s first course on marketing operations (MO). A pioneer in the MO field, Gary founded Marketing Operations Partners, the first strategic consulting firm focused on MO, in 2006.

From 2014-2017, Gary developed the integrated go-to-market strategy and managed the beta program that enabled global semiconductor manufacturer Renesas Electronics to enter the Internet of Things (IoT) market.
