Professor of Economics

Eric Fisher

Mr. Fisher enjoys an international reputation for research in international economics and macroeconomics. He has published about 30 refereed articles in economics, political science, and physics. His work has appeared in the American Economic Review, Econometrica, the Journal of Economic Theory, and other preeminent scholarly journals.

Fisher has received many academic honors. He held the AGIP Professorship of International Economics at the Johns Hopkins University’s Bologna Center, and he was named a Jean Monet Fellow at the European University Institute. He is a Fellow of the CESifo Research Network. He has served as an associate editor of the Journal of Money Credit and Banking and the Journal of International Economics. He has served on the editorial boards of the Review of International Economics and the Journal of International Economic Integration. He has been a research associate at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland and a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.

Fisher has taught graduate and undergraduate classes in economics, business, and international relations. He won several teaching awards at Ohio State.

Fisher’s has served as an elected official in Ohio and as an academic senator at Cornell, Ohio State, and Cal Poly. He was elected Secretary of the International Economics and Finance Society. He has consulted often for Beacon Economics and the Gerson Lehrman Group.

Fisher has been a visiting professor at the University of Chicago, the University of Sao Paolo, Osaka University, the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, the University of California at Santa Barbara, and Chulalongkorn University.

Fisher speaks, French, German, Italian, Moroccan Arabic, and Spanish. He has basic conversational skills in Portuguese, Japanese, and Thai. Fisher’s biography is listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World.
