Allison Ellis

Dr. Allison M. Ellis is an assistant professor of Management and Human Resources in the Orfalea College of Business. She grew up in San Luis Obispo County and graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Social Behavior in 2009. In 2010, she entered the Ph.D. program at Portland State University where she studied Industrial/Organizational Psychology with focus in Occupational Health Psychology. She has spent time working with industry partners including Logitech, on issues of employee engagement and well-being, Sentis, a consulting and training organization focused on employee safety, well-being, and operational excellence, where her work was awarded Best Intervention by the American Psychological Association (APA) and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in 2015, and most recently with the Center for Parental Leave Leadership, an organization committed to addressing work-family priorities for employees and organizations. After receiving her Ph.D., Dr. Ellis taught Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management courses at the School of Business at Portland State University, and has returned to the Central Coast as a member of Orfalea as of Fall 2016.

Dr. Ellis is interested in a variety of research topics surrounding the ways in which organizations build psychological and human capital resources that facilitate well-being and reduce stress for employees. Her research has been presented at professional conferences such as the Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology, the Academy of Management, and Work, Stress & Health conference, and published in the Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, and Organizational Dynamics.
