In this role, you will support medical-device manufacturing operations, drive improvement projects, and partner with manufacturing and engineering teams to manage projects and execute on initiatives that support key business priorities. You will build influential relationships with manufacturing teams across multiple shifts, establishing a strong partnership with all manufacturing support functions, including engineering, planning, internal suppliers, quality assurance, maintenance, health and safety,
and finance. You will also collaborate with other industrial engineers across the organization to share best practices and establish IE functional excellence.

The ideal candidate will:

•        Be passionate about providing industrial engineering and process design support for state-of-the art implantable medical devices and manufacturing processes

Responsibilities include:
•        Designing and optimizing product and material flow and reducing lead times by applying Lean manufacturing methodologies, including visual systems, continuous flow, and standardizing work
•        Developing manufacturing line designs, scalability plans and managing implementation projects as we bring New Product Development projects from conception to commercialization including
•        Designing and analyzing efficient manufacturing and service systems that integrate people, equipment and information
•        Interacting with cross functional teams to define key performance metrics and create systems for monitoring performance
•        Training and influencing manufacturing teams in Industrial Engineering concepts to create a Future State Vision
•        Working with entire Supply Chain to establish raw-material replenishment systems, configuration strategies and product traceability methodology
•        Analyzing data and prioritizing/initiating projects to eliminate waste and improve yields and productivity
•        Using simulation tools to perform “what-if” analysis to support planning new lines and for the impact of changes in the operation
•        Teaching and applying statistical process control, assisting with product/process capability studies, developing process control plans and applying these tools to prioritize improvement and ensure process effectiveness
•        Improving automation, information control, process quality and organizational design
•        Applying systems modeling and analysis skills to ensure that high-quality products and services are achieved with the optimal use of resources
•        Specializing in the tools of industrial statistics, mathematical modeling, production logistics and enterprise information systems
•        Providing human factors engineering and ergonomics to manufacturing teams
•        Utilizing standard Gore tool sets where applicable to evaluate and understand manufacturing line performance and commercial readiness
•        Applying risk-assessment tools and working to mitigate risk using error-proofing and other techniques
•        Understanding and working with Finance to use standard costing, keep cost models up-to-date and creating systems to measure cycle times for standard cost models
•        Identifying the need for and implementing electronic data-collection systems as appropriate
•        Ensuring BOMs and Routes through product development are current and accurate
•        Developing continuous-improvement plans for long-term manufacturing needs
•        Practicing, supporting, and training associates on Lean manufacturing principles; using Lean principles to improve manufacturing
•        Managing projects to grow capacities and efficiencies
•        Understanding and applying operational systems such as ERP and product lifecycle management (PLM)
•        Conducting business case scenario analysis
•        Developing and presenting trade off curves for process optimization opportunities
Required Job Qualifications
•        Bachelor’s degree in Science, Supply Chain, or Engineering
•        Five years of process improvement experience in a manufacturing environment
•        Knowledge of and ability to apply Lean manufacturing principles (cellular/continuous flow, Kanban, Pokeyoke, Takt, etc.)
•        Demonstrated history as an effective team member and strong influential leadership skills
•        Demonstrated project-management skills
•        Knowledge of and the ability to apply mathematical optimization techniques (Linear, Integer, Dynamic, etc.)
•        Strong communication skills including both written and verbal
•        Proficiency in PCs/systems/Microsoft Office including advanced Excel
•        Knowledge of and ability to apply programming language (Java, VBA, etc)
•        Hands-on, creative problem solver with the ability to think strategically
•        Demonstrated ability to apply statistical process control (product/process capability studies), influence and sell ideas
•        Knowledge of and the ability to apply Designed Experiments
•        Proven ability to manage/lead multiple priorities

Desired Job Qualifications

•        Master’s Degree Industrial, Systems, Manufacturing or Other Engineering Degree
•        Experience with New Product Development
•        Experience in a regulated environment
•        Experience with data analysis i.e.: SQL, Congnos, Flex-Sim and VBA
•        Experience  deploying Six Sigma principles
•        Six Sigma Black Belt
