Lean Six Sigma is a systematic philosophy and approach to maintaining and building customer value while improving efficiency by engaging teams in problem solving. Lean Six Sigma Black Belts lead projects and are highly valued in industry http://www1.salary.com/Six-Sigma-Black-Belt-Salary.html

Having black belt training on your resume is a significant advantage. This is especially true for students competing with very broadly defined majors. Having black belt training provides you with specific skills that businesses want.

This non-credit course is applicable to both under graduate and graduate students, but is best taken after you have had at least one college level statistics course. The course entails 140 hours of independent online training, 16 hours of optional online support sessions with me as your facilitator, a “Lean Six Sigma Mini-Project” demonstrating your ability to apply the tools and concepts learned in the class, and a comprehensive, 5-hour, online, open book and note exam that positions you for future certification. This course, although engaging and well supported, is NOT EASY! It is a true differentiator for those with the fortitude to successfully complete the course.

The Black Belt course is 100% online and is meant to be completed while you are in an internship, working during the summer, or taking other classes. Comparable quality online courses cost in excess of $3500 including a certification exam. Because we have collaborated with MoreSteam.com and Cal Poly Extended Education, we can offer this course for $999 only to students currently enrolled in a Cal Poly degree program.

For more information, including registration and a syllabus, go to http://www.cob.calpoly.edu/centralcoastlean/lean-six-sigma/ or contact me directly. I would be happy to personally discuss how this course could connect you to a rewarding career. This course is not available at the $999 price after you graduate, so plan now to it integrate it into your course of study.

Checkout this link from MoreSteam for a tour of features and benefits of the online training that forms the core of this course: https://www.moresteam.com/elearning/tour/lean-six-sigma-retail-tour.cfm?

Completing the Black Belt course will allow you to claim on your resume that you are “Black Belt trained”. I am in the process of putting together, and getting approval for, a program that will allow you to upgrade to “Cal Poly Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certified”. The Black Belt certification is targeted to be in place by Fall 2013. Students that complete their certification requirements after graduation will be able to get their certification through Cal Poly Extended Education.

I am happy to be able to offer this new course to allow you to add to add to your personal toolbox. If you have any questions, my door is always open.

Cheers, Eric O.
