Carlos Scholz is the head of Strategic Initiatives at The Permanente Medical Group. At his role, Carlos is responsible over the successful deployment of “The North Valley Way” (Lean) as the organization’s Operating System. His work encompasses Strategy Deployment, Cross-Functional Strategic Initiatives, Daily Management, and Organizational Development.
Carlos brings over 16 years of experience in international operations management, supply chain management, organizational transformation, and lean management. His work has resulted in significant improvements in a wide scope of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, healthcare and public administration. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, he spent 6 years as VP Organizational Innovation at NYC Health + Hospitals, the largest public health system in the country, as well as 10 years working in the manufacturing industry at Hanesbrands, Inc and D’Addario & Company, Inc where held progressive leadership roles, having the opportunity to launch system-wide lean transformations and participate in over 350 improvement activities in multiple roles.
He holds an undergraduate degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Tamaulipas, in Mexico and an Executive Masters in Healthcare Leadership degree from Brown University. Carlos graduated from the 2013 class of the New York City Leadership Institute and is a Certified Lean Practitioner by the University of Iowa. He is currently a member of the Association of Hispanic Healthcare Executives, the American College of Healthcare Executives and a fellow of American Essential Hospitals.
