Description: The Permanente Medical Group is the largest medical group in the United States. More than 8,500 physicians and 35,000 nurses and staff are leading the transformation of healthcare and delivering superior clinical outcomes that have a positive and often life-changing impact on the health of over 4 million patients in Northern California. A collaborative and coordinated approach to medical care enables physicians in more than 70 specialties to work together to benefit the lives of our patients. Through innovative, personalized and technologically advance approach to healthcare, we continue to set the standard and raise the bar in making high-quality care more connected, more convenient and more accessible.
For the last 9 years, “The North Valley Way” (Lean/Toyota Production System) has been the organization’s fundamental approach to problem solving and engagement in the North Valley Service Area (Sacramento/Roseville). Elements of the system include Strategy Deployment, Cross-functional initiatives and Daily management. This approach has resulted in significant improvements in quality, safety, care experience and staff engagement. This is the story of how it has been embraced by leadership, managers and staff to transform the way we operate and how we are planning to evolve this operation.
