Eric Fisher

Eric Fisher was graduated with a degree in philosophy from Princeton University in 1974. He served in the Peace Corps in Morocco, and then was awarded an M.A. in international relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in 1979. Fisher received his doctorate in economics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1985. His first job was at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, and his first academic appointment was as an assistant professor at Cornell University in 1987. He was an assistant and associate professor at The Ohio State University, where he taught for thirteen years. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Chicago, the University of Sao Paolo, the Australian National University, Johns Hopkins University, Virginia Tech, and the University of California at Santa Barbara. Fisher was a Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute, and he has held the AGIP Chair in international economics at Johns Hopkins University. Fisher serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of International Economics, the Review of International Economics, and the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking. He has been a research associate at the federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, and a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. Fisher has published numerous articles in scholarly journals in economics and political science, and he has won awards for his research and teaching. He is listed in Who's Who in America.

Fisher lives in San Luis Obispo, with his wife and two children. He arrived at Cal Poly in January 2007 and is very happy to be at a university that emphasizes learning by doing.
