Proposed Admission Requirements for Domestic Students

MS Business and Technology
Off-Campus – Working Professionals Track

Applicants must possess:

1. Possess an acceptable Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited institution
2. Complete the CSU Mentor application
3. Submit official transcripts from all previous colleges attended
4. Possess at least (2) years of full-time relevant work experience
5. Confidential Letter of Recommendation
6. GRE or GMAT exam scores

1. Possess an acceptable Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited institution

An applicant must have received, from an accredited institution, a baccalaureate degree in Industrial Technology or a closely related discipline such as Engineering.  If the bachelor’s degree is from a non-related discipline, you may still qualify provided there is evidence of demonstrated skills or work history in business and technology. 

2. Complete the CSU Mentor application

The application for admission is completed and submitted via CSU Mentor's web site.

A non-refundable $55* fee is required for the admissions office to process your application. The fee may be paid online or sent directly to the Admission Office at the following address:

3. Submit official transcripts from all previous colleges attended

We require official transcripts from every college you've attended so that your degree status can be verified, and your GPA calculated. A minimum grade point average of 2.5 in the last 90 quarter units (60 semester units) is required. Transcripts are not needed from students who received their undergraduate degree from Cal Poly and have not attended any other colleges or universities since their graduation from Cal Poly. Do NOT send your transcripts until you have submitted your application. Unsolicited transcripts will not be processed by the Admissions Office. Send transcripts directly to:

4. Possess at least (2) years of full-time relevant work experience

Submit a resume along with a one-page statement of interest that describes your professional goals, experience, and responsibilities.  Send to:

5. Have a confidential letter of recommendation submitted on your behalf

The letter of recommendation should address your professional capabilities and readiness for graduate study.  The person submitting the recommendation letter should send it directly to:

6. Possess a competitive GRE or GMAT score

Applicants must take the Official Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and have scores reported directly from the testing center to Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo. To learn about test centers and schedules, or to request that a previously taken score be reported to Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo, please visit http://www.mba.com/ for the GMAT exam or http://www.gre.org for the GRE exam.

Applicants to our program represent diverse educational and employment backgrounds, and the GMAT and GRE exams provide a common assessment standard. Requiring applicants to submit an official GMAT or GRE score for the MS BT program helps assure that all graduate students are well qualified.
