What Makes Us Unique
Distance Learning Masters Degree in Business & Technology - New Program Pending
May 18, 2009 Special Update:
In addition to the current fees noted on the Orfalea College graduate programs web site for the state supported MBA and state supported MS in Business and Technology Program (Applied Research and Development Track), on May 13, 2009 the California State University Board of Trustees adopted a mandatory 10 percent general fee increase for CSU students and programs for all students at the various 23 CSU campuses across the state. Further, it also adopted a mandatory CSU system wide professional graduate fee for state-supported MBA programs and similar business graduate degrees such as our state supported MS in Business and Technology (Applied Research and Development Track). Both fees are effective for the above noted Cal Poly programs (only), Fall 2009. The professional graduate fee adds $140 per quarter unit to the state fees noted on our web site. Both new and continuing students in these listed programs (including the MBA side of the EMP program or any other dual degree program) are subject to these new fees. Various types of need based financial aid may be available for eligible students who apply. Once the Orfalea College learns more details about these two new fees and their roll out and develops a process for applying for said financial aid, we will post said details on our web site and advise returning and incoming students by email. Please check back.
More information on this 10% general fee increase and the professional graduate fee is available on the California State University system web site at:

Dr. Chris Carr, Associate Dean
Our Graduate programs offers coursework consistent with Cal Poly's "learn by doing" philosophy, integrative learning, and an opportunity for international study. From the outset, we developed a curriculum to provide our students with unique experiences and insights. We continue to work with important stakeholders, such as members of our Business Advisory Council, alumni, recruiters, faculty and current students to identify how best to continually improve the programs and strengthen competencies they most value in our graduates. This process of continuous review and improvement has put in place programs poised to produce the next great wave of business leaders ready to solve business problems in an ethical manner.
Your fellow students will be bright, talented and hard working. Our faculty members are distinguished, passionate about teaching and their research, accessible, dedicated to guiding and mentoring you, and will challenge you every day. Our class sizes are reasonable, our facilites top-notch and our program is reasonably priced in comparison to the competition. Finally, we are located in a special place of unparalleled beauty. Hike or mountain bike one of the area's many trails. Run into one of your professors at Farmer's Market in downtown San Luis Obispo on a Thursday night. Experience the vineyards and wine tasting rooms of the Edna Valley and Paso Robles. Decompress after a challenging exam by surfing at Shell Beach. Look out over the campus as the sun sets over Bishop's Peak. Then like the rest of us, pinch and remind yourself how lucky you are to live, work and study here.
I hope to see you on campus.
- Professor Carr
