Previous Academic Experience:

Recent Consulting Experience:

  • Preparing business valuations
  • Preparing business plans
  • Providing financial, accounting and operational due diligence during the buyout process for private equity investments in a variety of industries
  • Observing and reporting on potential liabilities and risks during the buyout process, including analysis of operating results, financial position, cash flows, quality of assets and earnings, and impact findings on the valuation of the targeted firm
  • Providing technical advice about accounting transactions for leveraged buyouts and other financing transactions
  • Performing CFO duties for newly acquired companies, including management of Accounting and Human Resource departments
  • Performing board member duties for private companies
  • Performing independent valuation of intangible assets

Publications

Dr. Savage has been the recipient of six best conference paper awards. Some of her publications appear in the Journal of Information Systems, Accounting and the Public Interest, Issues in Accounting Education, Advances in Environmental Accounting and Management, Advances in Accounting Education, International Journal of Business Information Systems, International Journal of Business Excellence, and The CPA Journal. She also co-authored a textbook, Advanced Financial Accounting, and two research monographs in the Elsevier Science series Studies in Managerial and Financial Accounting.

Activities

Dr. Savage is Past President of the national Accounting Information Systems (AIS) Educator Association, which provides hands-on computer training and research mentorship for AIS faculty across the U.S. She remains on the Board of Directors as an emeritus board member. She is currently the founding editor of this association’s new academic journal. Dr. Savage is also on the editorial board of the International Journal of Business Information Systems. She also served as a member of the Executive Committee of the American Accounting Association’s Information Systems Section
