Dr. Geringer is an award-winning researcher, teacher, and consultant, with an international reputation for his work in strategic management, international business, joint ventures and alliances, mergers and acquisitions, entrepreneurship, venture capital, and the management of technological and human resources. His academic and professional honors include: University Distinguished Teacher Award, University Distinguished Scholar Award, and International Educator Awards from Cal Poly; Saastamoinen Foundation Chair from Helsinki School of Economics; Outstanding Professor Award from both the Korean Executive MBA Program and the Poznan School of Banking; Decade Award from Journal of International Business Studies; George & Sara McCune Best Paper Award from Group and Organization Management; and Division Chair for the Academy of Management and the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada.
His 25 years of consulting experience on 5 continents include work with Nokia, Lucent, Perlos, Eastman Chemical, Okobank, Perlos, LG Electronics, Northern Telecom, Rautaruukki, Sonera, Y.I.T., Jiangsu Telecom Industrial, Investment Canada, UPM-Kymmene, Hansabank, Economic Council of Canada, David Lynch Music, STX Corp., Rain for Rent/WOSCO, Kodak, and Industry, Science and Technology Canada.
He has authored or edited 27 books and monographs (in English, French, Chinese and Indonesian) and published over 140 papers, including within Journal of International Business Studies, Academy of Management Journal, Thunderbird International Business Review, Strategic Management Journal, and Journal of Applied Psychology. He serves on Editorial Boards of 6 scholarly journals, including Editor-in-Chief for International Journal of Strategic Business Alliances, and has received 11 “best paper” awards from scholarly organizations. He has taught at universities in the U.S., Canada, Finland, Poland, Hungary, United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, Taiwan, China, Korea, Indonesia, and South Africa, receiving over 20 “best professor” awards in recognition of his instructional performance. He has extensive leadership experience in industry, university, and not-for-profit organizations, including Licensing Executives Society, Academy of Management, Administrative Sciences Association of Canada, and A.I.E.S.E.C.
