Chris Carr, OCOB Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Professor of
Business Law, co-authored a paper with Associate Professor of Marketing
Scott Erickson of Ithaca College titled, "Bringing the Marketing
Discipline into the Forefront of Knowledge Management." He presented
this co-authored paper at the Academy of Legal Studies of Business'
national meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Patricia McQuaid, of the Management-Information Systems Area, has been
appointed Associate Editor of the Software Quality Professional Journal,
the official journal of the Software Division of the American Society
for Quality. She has been a member of the Editorial Board since 2001,
and has reviewed many articles for the journal in this capacity. She
will continue to review
journal manuscripts, assuming more responsibility in the future.
Patricia McQuaid has been awarded a Cal Poly grant as part of a
workshop intended to prepare faculty to incorporate additional
technology in their classes. This is the beginning of developing a
hybrid course. The grant amount is $1,000.
This year, the Cal Poly Wheelchair Foundation has expanded its mission
to include a partnership with Rotary to benefit Malawi. Our fund-raising
goal is $200,000, which will send wheelchairs, build water wells, and
establish an endowment to pay for k-12 educational scholarships.
This year's team has expanded to include a team of art and design
students, who traveled with us to Buenos Aires in September and
photographed the faces and places touched by our students' humanitarian
efforts. There will be an exhibit of 54 of their best works:

Kaveepan Lertwachara has been selected to participate in The Boeing
Welliver Faculty Fellowship Program in June 2007 through August 2007.
A paper by Robert Elliott and Bing Han (Anderson), "A Hidden Markov approach to the forward premium puzzle,'' is published in the International Journal of Theoretical and Applied Finance, 9, 1009-1020. It is the lead paper of the November 2006 issue of the journal.
Rebecca Ellis was interviewed/taped for a TV special that ran Feb 5 on KCOY Channel 12 as an expert on Alternative Work Schedules.
Bradford Anderson (Lecturer-Accounting/Law) received the "2007 Distinguished Junior Faculty Presentation Award" for his presentation o Employee Non-Competition Clauses in California, at the Pacific Southwes Academy of Legal Studies in Business Conference, held in Palm Springs, CA. Cal Poly sponsored his attendance at this conference.
