The Orfalea College is distinguished by its superb faculty, who strive to make a difference in the classroom as well as in the world. Through the meticulous process of discovery and application, students and the greater community benefit from the knowledge that results from purposeful research on important topics. Professor Rami Shani is one of those resourceful researchers. He is working on an international research project team that focuses on understanding the sustainability challenges in healthcare organizations from a cross-industry and national perspective.

“The origin of sustainability came about from environmental issues and concerns,” Rami said. “Today the focus is on the triple bot tom line encompassing ecology, economic and social sustainability. One of the projects we are working on centers on sustaining high-quality healthcare delivery by investigating 10 leading healthcare systems from around the world.”
