Beth Brenner has joined the Orfalea College of Business as the new Assistant Director of Advancement effective July 1, 2008. Beth will work closely with Pamela McClure, Director of Advancement, as she represents the college in her fundraising activities. Please join us in welcoming Beth to the college.
Under the leadership of president James Huang (Accounting ’08), the Cal Poly Accounting Club was named Club of the Year for 2007-08 by the Business Student Council at the Orfalea College of Business Annual Awards Council. As the recipient of the award, the club receives a plaque for the club to keep, their name engraved on the perpetual plaque that is displayed in the undergraduate lounge in the college, and $300. Congratulations CPAC!
Kris McKinlay, Director of the Orfalea College of Business Advising Center, explains curriculum, prerequisites and requirements to the enthusiastic incoming freshmen who attended Student Orientation, Advising & Resources (SOAR) in July. The college will have 425 freshmen and 65 transfer students join us on the first day of fall quarter in September.
Orfalea College of Business Dean Dave Christy has been appointed chair of the Economic Vitality Corporation of San Luis Obispo County for one year, effective July 1, 2008. The Economic Vitality Corporation provides economic development services and business resources throughout San Luis Obispo County while stimulating the local economy by helping to generate jobs, increase investment in the community and promote the start-up, growth and attraction of businesses.
