Gary
Dove (IT ’69) was honored as Citizen of the Year
for 2006 in the Los Osos Community. Dove was instrumental,
with his Rotary club, in purchasing and installing an electronic
marquee at the intersection of South Bay Boulevard and Los Osos
Valley Road to help publicize community events and reduce litter
(by eliminating homemade signs that were previously taped all
over fences in town). Dove is the owner of Dove Lighting Systems
in San Luis Obispo, designing, building, and selling theatre
lighting controls all over north and south America.

As part of the Distinguished Speaker Series, Mike Mitchell, President of Sales for Nestlé USA, will appear at Cal Poly March 9 at 10:00 a.m. in the Alex and Faye Spanos Theatre. During his talk, "The Key to Driving Excellent Performance," Mitchell will discuss sales and leadership in Nestlé USA.

O’Brien of The Personal Branding Group was the
honored guest at a luncheon with student leaders and alumni after
his presentation in the Professional Development Speaker Series
sponsored by the Business Student Council and the American Marketing
Association. O’Brien spoke to more than 250 students
of the College about why personal identity is important, how
to impact your brand, and why branding is important.
Volunteer
Income Tax Assistance (VITA) ’07 is happening
now! Until March 17th Accounting students will be assisting
community members with tax preparation at no cost. In its
16th year, Orfalea College of Business students prepared 875
income tax returns in 2006. Pictured (left to right) are: CPA Polly

The
Fresno reunion was the place to be for Industrial Technology alumni Bob
Newell, ’74, Walt Parrish, ’64,
and Ed Dias, ’73. Hosted by Business
Administration alum Don Fischbach (’69),
the reunion was visited by seven students from Dr. Rebecca
Ellis’ human resources management association team
who were in Fresno for the State competition.
