Mark Wesley (left), Senior Vice-President of Starbucks, Inc., spoke to Rami Shani’s China Tour Pre-Departure Meeting for the 2008 trip. Wesley spoke of the company’s global strategy, with an emphasis on China. The MBA students will visit Starbucks headquarters in Shanghai during their 2008 trip to China.
Stuart L. Hart was the final speaker for the Distinguished Speaker Series for the 2006-07 academic year. Dr. Hart, S.C. Johnson Chair of Sustainable Global Enterprise and Professor of Management at Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management, spoke on “Capitalism at the Crossroads: Business Strategies for a Sustainable World.” Pictured here, Dr. Hart is answering questions from students outside Spanos Theatre after his presentation in May.

Kara Dale (left), Industrial Technology student, received the first Nelson L. Smith Scholarship from Nelson L. (Smitty) Smith, III, right, at the Industrial Technology Alumni Banquet. The endowed scholarship was started by Mark Alexander (IT ’71) and the fund grew thanks to the generosity of the hundreds of alumni and friends who wanted to honor Smitty. Approximately 170 people were on hand to applaud as Kara received her scholarship.
