Randy BernardRandy Bernard (right), CEO of the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) was on campus as part of the Orfalea College of Business Distinguished Speakers Series.  Since Bernard has been at the helm of the Professional Bull Riders, Inc., the PBR has grown from 300,000 fans who attended PBR events in 1995 to an estimated 2.1 million fans who will attend PBR events in 2007.  His inspirational presentation was attended by students and community members alike.  Pictured with Randy is Bryce Ekern (Finance), who plans to intern at PBR.

Matt LandreMatt Landre (MBA ’03) was honored by The Tribune as one of the top 20 Under 40 rising business leaders in San Luis Obispo county.  Feted at a special luncheon in January, the competition is in its second year and celebrates the accomplishments of women and men who have demonstrated a commitment to their profession and community.  More than 80 nominations were received, and the winners were selected in December by a panel of six judges from the Economic Vitality Corp. of San Luis Obispo County.  Matt is currently a financial advisor with Coast Hills Federal Credit Union.

Dean Christy's open forumThe Dean’s Open Forum for winter ’07 attracted over 50 students who wanted to meet with Dean Christy to hear what is happening in the College and share their concerns with him.  The dean addressed issues of faculty hiring, enrollment growth, graduation requirements, and fee increases with the students.  Dean Christy meets in a town hall setting once each quarter to allow students to openly discuss College issues and innovative solutions.
Lance BrandenbergLance Brandenberg (Marketing ’06) is a recent grad, yet he has been a successful businessman in San Luis Obispo for almost two years.  Lance shared the story of his business, Mediums, with the Orfalea College of Business Student Ambassadors and reflected on what it was like to be a student and run a business, the value of his education, his hard knocks, and Top Ramen!
