Dean Christy at orientation

The Orfalea College of Business welcomed approximately 720 new freshmen in Fall 2005 from an application pool of 4,200. The incoming freshmen have an average high school GPA of 3.80 and an average SAT score of 1224. In addition, the entering class includes approximately 120 junior level transfer students from an applicant pool of 800. The incoming transfer students have an average college GPA of 3.38. The number of new students this fall is higher than during the last few years because the college has a higher-than-average graduation of its students. Our efforts to promote student success through better advising and timely degree completion has resulted in a record graduation rate. Enrollment of new students is directly related to graduation rate, so that the Orfalea College of Business maintains a total of 2,450 undergraduate students.
