… Dr. Ken Griggs (information systems professor), working with Richard Asplund (computer lab director) has completed installation of the Robotel SmartClass system. With roughly 2,500 students using the five OCOB computer labs each year and a life span for Robotel of 10 years, it is estimated that 25,000 students will be impacted by the program.

… Richard Croxall, Sector Vice President of Mission Assurance and Engineering for Northrop Grumman in Redondo Beach, will be the keynote speaker at the MBA commencement on June 11th in the PAC. Mr. Croxall has been a supporter of the EMP since its inception. His son, Robert, is an OCOB alum who received his undergraduate degree in Finance in 1996 and his MSI&TS in 1998.

Dr. Jay Singh...Dr. Jay Singh (IT) is planning to take a group of five students to Sweden in June to study packaging at the University of Lund. The students will be part of a logistical and food packaging program hosted by Michigan State University. Resources to help the students are now being sought. If you have airline miles you could give, money to help with registration, or any other assistance to offer, please contact Dr. Singh at 805.756.2129 or jasingh@calpoly.edu.


Commencement 2005

We are beginning to plan activities for Commencement 2005. If you have suggestions for improvement or have seen other commencements that you thought were exceptional, please email them to Leslie McKinley at lmckinle@calpoly.edu to be shared with commencement committee members. Spring ceremonies this year will be held on Saturday, June 11.

Students and Dean Christy in a classroom Dave’s first Dean’s Open Forum drew a crowd of 30 students. Increasing study abroad, freshmen in business classes, and the ‘volunteer mindset’ were all discussed. The ambassadors will host a dean’s forum once each quarter, open to all OCOB students.
