HOT TOPICS!

Pam Mcclure

...New advancement directorPam McClure has accepted the position of Director of Advancement for the OCOB. Pam’s first day will be Feb. 14th. Pam comes to us from the University of Pennsylvania where she served as a west coast gifts officer. I know that you will give her a warm welcome to our college at the March meeting.

...Campaign totals are not yet finalized but we do know that the OCOB finished the campaign with over $29 million raised. Thank you again to all of you for your gifts, time, and energy during the Centennial Campaign.

Faculty Travels and Exchanges

Norm BorinThe faculty exchange program to Seinajoki Polytechnic is now in its sixth year. Norm Borin, Marketing area coordinator, is going to Seinajoki this spring. In exchange, Ville Pekka Makelainenon (at left) is currently making his 6th visit to the OCOB. For more information on Seinajoki, click here. Barry Floyd, MIS, is traveling to Thailand this spring for his third time as part of the Study Abroad program.


Summer School is Back, Better than Ever!

Cal Poly is revitalizing its summer school program in order to bring total summer enrollment to 25% of fall enrollment figures. For the OCOB, this means we will again be offering GE classes, undergraduate support classes and core classes. For more information about summer classes, click here to view class offerings.

Commencement 2005

We are beginning to plan activities for Commencement 2005. If you have suggestions for improvement or have seen other commencements that you thought were exceptional, please email them to Leslie McKinley at lmckinle@calpoly.edu to be shared with commencement committee members. Spring ceremonies this year will be held on Saturday, June 11.

Chief of Police Addresses Student Ambassadors

Deb Linden Deb Linden, Chief of Police for the City of San Luis Obispo, spoke to the OCOB Student Ambassadors at a recent meeting. Chief Linden is directing her department to increase their efforts at improving relations with the student community and explained to the students some of the concerns of her officers, and the community. The students appreciated the chief's visit and requested that she come back to another meeting because they wanted to spend more time sharing information with her. Thank you Chief Linden!
