Spotlight Employer:
Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Enterprise is the largest car rental company in North America and arguably the world. We are a $9 billion company with more than 878,000 vehicles in our rental and leasing fleet, more than 64,000 employees and over 6,900 locations in the U.S., Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom and Ireland. Everyday isn't so much like a workday as it is an MBA crash course. At Enterprise, you'll gain valuable and highly marketable skills in every aspect of business management from sales and marketing and developing a staff to customer service and accounting. Yet, we're not all business all the time. Enterprise is also a tight knit culture, where great people really enjoy each other's company both in and outside of work.
Internships at Enterprise:
- 1. Are you hiring interns now?
- Internships play an integral role in the success of Enterprise. Enterprise has grown at an incredible rate both domestically and internationally and we see nothing but tremendous growth ahead. We generally hire interns during their summer vacation. Some locations, however, do hire interns all year long.
- 2. Are internships at Enterprise paid?
- Yes. Not only is it a paid internship program, but interns may also be eligible for performance bonuses, incentives and employee referral awards.
- 3. What are the requirements?
- Typically, you should have completed either your sophomore or junior year. To qualify, you should be interested in a management and sales environment and should have strong multi-tasking skills. The ideal person is ambitious, creative, personable, resourceful and hard working. You should also like to have fun at work and must enjoy a team environment.
- 4. What type of hours do interns work?
- Hours for interns vary from location to location. Summer interns are generally full-time, temporary employees. For interns working throughout the quarter, the hours are flexible and often on a part-time basis.
- 6. What is a typical day like as an intern?
- This may be an unfair question. The truth is, there is no typical day as an intern. You'll soon discover that every day is different because it is filled with so many new, exciting, rewarding and often unexpected challenges. There is one consistent aspect, however - everyday, you'll learn more about sales/marketing, customer service, business management, and administrative skills than you ever thought possible.
- 7. Does a college internship make it easier for me to acquire a full-time position with Enterprise once I graduate?
- Yes. It gives you an opportunity to showcase your talents and abilities as well as the opportunity to see if Enterprise is the right fit for you. We typically hire recent grads for our Entry-Level Sales/Management Trainee Position and occasionally are looking for Entry-Level Staff Accountants.
- 8. Is Enterprise a company built for the future?
- Definitely. We've had record revenues each year and are now more than $8 billion as we continue to expand into airport locations and globally. Growing our rental car business with over 818,000 vehicles now in service, we also look to continue our growth in our other businesses; Fleet Services, Truck Rental and Car Sales. We have offices located right here in San Luis Obispo as well.
