As a student at Cal Poly, you can repeat classes for the purpose of replacing the grade that you first recieved if you are unsatisfied with it. However, you can only do this for 20 units worth of classes. To be eligible to replace a grade in a class, you must meet these requirements:
- Have sufficient units available out of the 20 units to re-take the class
- The grade you are trying to replace must be a D+ or worse*
- Both classes must be taken at Cal Poly**
Effective Summer 2007 - Any course taken at Cal Poly is eligible for grade forgiveness ONE time only. If a course is taken a third time, or more, the grades will average there after.
The grades will be averaged (not replaced)
if:
* you re-take a class where the grade you originally recieved was
a C- or better
** the class you re-take is not at Cal Poly, but at some other
university (check transferability at assist.org).
It should also be noted that the new grade will replace the previous one as far as your GPA is concerned, but the original grade will still show up on your official transcript next to the new one.
