Credit / No Credit Policy
Orfalea College of Business students may not take any major, concentration, or support class Credit/No Credit. If you do, it will be changed to a grade when your graduation evaluation is completed.

Credit / No Credit Limitations

  • A total of 16 units may be taken as Credit / No Credit grading
  • Of the 16 total, 4 units maximum in GE courses (which generally means only one GE class)
  • Cal Poly cumulaive GPA of at least 2.0
  • Maximum of 2 courses can be taken CR/NC per quarter
  • Classes with CR/NC grading normally (ex. PE 109) are NOT counted against your CR/NC units

It is the student's responsibility to ensure that these limitations are met. The registration systems (CAPTURE & POWER) will not automatically restrict the ability to enroll in major, support and general education courses on a CR/NC basis.

All changes in grading method must be completed by the end of the third week of the term. All student initated updates regarding CR/NC grading must be done on POWER or CAPTURE prior to the above deadline.

  • You may receive CREDIT for a grade of C- or above.
  • You will receive NO CREDIT for a grade of D+ and lower.

For general information on CR/NC policy see the Office of Academic Records' Credit / No Credit Grading Information (CR / NC)
