Alexa Loken’s career has had many twists and turns. She’s a serial entrepreneur and do-gooder, with a passion for helping people. In 2014, she started her third company, Loken Careers; she happily coaches clients on “what they want to do when they grow up”, and particularly loves helping social impact clients and working with aspiring entrepreneurs. Previously, she worked at Indeed.com as a certified career coach for software engineers in both the U.S. and Europe, started a cause-based marketing firm, co-founded a recruiting firm for women in tech, and began her career while working for environmental nonprofits.

Alexa also currently teaches Public Speaking at Cal Poly, an Eco-Entrepreneurship summer study abroad program in Costa Rica, and Social Impact Entrepreneurship (virtually) through UCSC. Previously she taught in the business schools at CU Boulder and in Austin. She received her undergraduate degree in International Relations from American University in Washington, D.C. and her Master’s in Media, Culture & Communications from New York University.

She grew up in the Bay Area, and has lived in DC, NYC, Hawaii, Austin and Boulder county.

Fun Facts: Alexa and her family relocated to beautiful SLO two years ago, where they play at the beach and in the tide pools as often as possible. She has two rambunctious dogs, a curious preschooler, and a smiley toddler. She absolutely adores tea and public libraries. She’s been playing piano since she turned 30, and built a tiny house with her husband in Austin.
